When a business is growing, the right infrastructure can make all the difference between simply coping and truly thriving. That’s exactly where we were able to help long-standing social enterprise Nuneaton Signs, as they expanded into a new facility on the Hinckley-Nuneaton border.
In this blog, we’ll walk through the project, what we delivered, and how a well-designed compressed air system will support Nuneaton Signs’ growth for years to come.
Who Are Nuneaton Signs?
Nuneaton Signs is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of signs and vehicle graphics, with a proud history as a social enterprise. They combine high-quality manufacturing with a strong social mission, providing inclusive employment opportunities and creating real impact in their local community.
As demand for their products and services has grown, so too has their operation and workforce. Their recent expansion into a second site - just off the A5, at their newly acquired Hinckley facility – marks an important milestone in their growth journey.
Getting this new space “production-ready” required robust, efficient utilities from day one. That’s where Airmech came in.
The Challenge: A Future-Proof Compressed Air Solution
The new Hinckley facility needed a compressed air system that could:
- Support current production capacity from the moment the site went live
- Be efficient to run, helping to control energy usage and ongoing costs
- Scale up as Nuneaton Signs continues to grow and invests in additional equipment
Rather than simply replicating what they had at their existing site, the goal was to design a system that was tailored to the new factory layout and future production plans.
What We Installed at the Hinckley Facility
The project centred around a brand new, energy-efficient Airstation and a carefully planned pipework system.
Energy-Efficient Airstation
We installed a new Airstation, correctly sized for the new site’s output and anticipated growth. The focus was on:
Energy efficiency – helping reduce running costs and environmental impact
Reliability – minimising downtime and keeping production moving
Scalability – ensuring the system can cope with increased demand as operations expand
Full Ring of Pipework
Alongside the Airstation, we installed a full ring of pipework throughout the facility, designed to deliver consistent compressed air to key workstations across the factory floor.
A ring main offers several advantages:
More stable pressure across the system
Greater flexibility when adding or relocating machinery
Improved resilience if part of the line needs maintenance
A Turnkey Solution from Install to Aftercare
We didn’t just install the equipment and walk away. As part of our turnkey solution, we delivered:
- Commissioning – ensuring the system was set up correctly and performing as specified
- Testing – validating reliability, pressure, and flow to support the required processes
- Aftercare support – being on hand to answer questions and resolve any early teething issues
Looking ahead, we’ve also put in place ongoing preventative maintenance plans. Regular servicing and monitoring will help keep the compressed air system running efficiently and reliably, while reducing the risk of unexpected breakdowns and costly interruptions to production.
Why This Project Matters to Us
At Airmech, we genuinely enjoy partnering with organisations that share our values around quality, innovation, and doing the right thing.
Nuneaton Signs is a brilliant example of this in action:
- They’re driving local economic growth by expanding their operations and creating jobs
- They’re delivering social value through inclusive employment and meaningful opportunities
- They’re investing in their future, with modern facilities and a forward-looking approach to production
Their down-to-earth, committed team made this project a pleasure to deliver, and we’re proud to have played a part in helping them unlock the potential of their new Hinckley site.
