Temporary Compressed Air When You Need It
Portable compressors and dryers delivered, connected, and collected. Emergency, shutdown, project, or bridging hire.
When Production Stops, You Need Air Now
Compressor down and production stopped. Planned shutdown with no backup. Project peak and not enough capacity. New site waiting for permanent equipment.
You need air now and you need someone who delivers, connects, and supports it. Not just drops a unit and disappears.
Airmech delivers temporary compressed air for any scenario. We bring the equipment, connect it to your system, commission it, and collect it when the job is done. One call, one provider, full support throughout the hire.
Four Hire Options, One Standard of Service
Every hire includes delivery, connection, commissioning, and collection. We do not leave you with a unit on a pallet and a phone number. Our core hire fleet covers portable electric compressors from 2.2 kW to 15 kW, with both fixed speed and variable speed options. Larger units up to 75 kW are available via our approved hire partners at the same service standard. Diesel driven units are available for sites without adequate electrical supply or outdoor applications. Refrigerant dryers and filtration options are available on request. Hose kits, quick couplings, and temporary pipework connections are supplied as part of the hire.
Emergency Hire: compressor failed, you need air now. We get a working unit to your site as fast as stock allows, same day where possible. Planned Shutdown Hire: scheduled maintenance or overhaul requiring temporary air, booked to your timeline. Project Hire: short term capacity boost for production peaks, construction, or new line commissioning. Bridging Hire: new site or relocation where permanent equipment is on order and you need cover in the gap.
For hires longer than 7 days, we include scheduled servicing at no extra charge. Our engineers visit to check oil level, filter condition, condensate drain function, and operating parameters. You receive a service record for each visit. If you decide to buy within 60 days, we credit a portion of your hire fees against the purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can you deliver?
For emergency hires, we aim to deliver within 24 hours subject to stock availability. Common sizes (7.5 kW, 15 kW, 22 kW) are typically available at short notice from our Nuneaton base. Larger units (37 kW and above) may require 48 to 72 hours depending on current demand. For planned shutdown and project hires, we reserve equipment in advance and schedule delivery to your exact date and time.
Do you just deliver or do you set it up?
We deliver, connect to your compressed air system, and commission the unit. Connection includes temporary hose or pipework from the hire unit to your ring main or point of use, electrical connection where required, and a full pressure and leak test before handover. When the hire is complete, we disconnect and collect. You do not need to arrange any of the connection or disconnection work.
What size hire compressor do I need?
That depends on your air demand. As a rough guide, a 7.5 kW compressor delivers approximately 1.0 cubic metres per minute at 7 bar, suitable for a small workshop or single pneumatic line. A 22 kW unit delivers around 3.5 cubic metres per minute, sufficient for a medium production line. A 55 kW compressor delivers approximately 9.0 cubic metres per minute for larger operations. If you are unsure, tell us what compressor has failed and we will match the output. We always recommend a unit that meets your demand without being excessively oversized.
What does hire cost?
Hire rates are based on compressor size, hire duration, and delivery distance. Short term emergency hires are charged at daily or weekly rates. Project hires over 4 weeks benefit from reduced monthly rates. All rates include delivery, connection, commissioning, and collection within our standard delivery area. We quote a fixed total before confirming the hire, with no hidden charges for connection or disconnection work. For hires that convert to purchase, up to 60 days of hire fees can be credited against the equipment cost.
What if the hire unit breaks down?
We replace or repair within 24 hours. If we cannot restore air supply within 24 hours, hire charges for the downtime period are refunded in full. That is our Working Unit Guarantee, included with every hire at no extra cost. Our engineers can be reached on the same number you called to arrange the hire, available for emergency hire customers around the clock.
