How It Started
Like any good business story, ours begins with humble roots. In 1980, Roy Emmett converted the space under his stairs into an office and started Airmech with nothing more than a phone and a notepad. His daughter Karen typed every quote in her lunch hour.
Forty-five years later, the same family still runs the company. The values haven't changed. The capability has.
A phone under the stairs
Roy Emmett converted the space under his stairs into an office and started Airmech Pneumatic Supplies & Services with nothing more than a phone and a notepad. All quotes were typed by his daughter Karen in her lunch hour at work.
First premises
Growing demand made it clear: stock needed a proper home. Airmech moved to a small unit on Newport Road in Coventry. Offices were built, a mezzanine added for stock, and the first eight employees joined the team.
Karen joins full time
Karen, who had typed those early quotes, joined Airmech in January 1983. She would go on to become the backbone of the business for decades. The company continued to grow.
Scaling up
Roy secured major clients including Dunlop, National Plastics, and all the Birmingham bakeries. The company expanded to a large unit with six offices, a workshop, a separate stores area, and over 20 staff.
Second generation takes over
Roy retained a share and passed the running of the company to Karen and Keith. Keith relocated the business to Nuneaton in 2007, positioning Airmech for its next chapter.
Third generation steps in
Charlotte Bedford joined the business straight from university, bringing fresh energy and ambition. A year later, sister Georgina joined the office team. A true family business, three generations deep.
Charlotte appointed Director
Charlotte was appointed as a Director and began modernising the business: new systems, new processes, and a renewed focus on national contracts and multi-site operations.
230+ customers. National coverage.
Three generations later, Airmech serves over 230 customers from single-site workshops to national operations like Costco and DPD. The same values Roy started with, backed by modern systems and 45 years of expertise.

What Drives Us
The same principles Roy started with in 1980. No slogans. Just how we work.
People Over Profit
Whether it's our team or our customers, the right thing comes first. Always has. Sometimes that means taking a financial hit to fix a mistake properly. We'd rather lose money than lose trust.
Honest When It Goes Wrong
Things don't always go to plan. When they don't, we take full responsibility. We don't just fix the issue, we use it as a chance to get better. No excuses, no finger-pointing.
Hard Work, Done Right
Three generations of this family have turned up, done the work, and delivered. No shortcuts. Every service completed to the same standard, whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth.
Small Enough to Care
You'll speak to the same people every time. We know your sites, your kit, and your history. Large enough for national contracts, small enough that you're never just an account number.
“We may not be perfect, but we strive to be the kind of company our customers can count on. Every time.”
